GSA Tournament Rules

Policies & Regulations

  • Coaches must check in at the registration table 30 minutes prior to their teams first scheduled game. 

  • No refunds will be given 10 days prior to the tournament date. 

  • There is an admission charge for adults and children age 5+ (coaches are free-max 2 per team.) 

  • Coaches may stand unless the receive a technical foul.

  • If a coach or player is ejected, they will not be able to participate in the next game.

  • We ask all spectators to be curteous and respect all refs, players and coaches. Any spectator who receives two warnings by either ref or staff will be asked to leave the facility. 

 

Game Rules

  • (2) 18-minute halves

  • The clock will only stop in the final minute of each half

  • Half-time will be (2) minutes or less depending on game schedule adherence

  • Warm-ups will be (3-5) minutes depending on game schedule adherence

  • Overtime is 1-minute sudden death (First team to score a point wins). The clock WILL STOP in overtime for dead balls. If neither team scores before the time runs out, the game will end in a tie.

  • Five (5) personal fouls per individual player will be allowed before disqualification

  • Technical fouls will result in (2) points and possession of the ball

  • A 2nd technical foul will result in an ejection from the game

  •  On the 7th team foul per half, teams will shoot single bonus free throws (Double bonus will not be utilized)

  • A total of (3) timeouts will be awarded for the game. (1) timeout can be used in the 1st half and a maximum of (2) timeouts can be used in the 2nd half. If you do not use a first-half timeout, you will lose that timeout for the game. There will be no additional timeouts provided for overtime. 2nd half timeouts will carry over into overtime if they have not already been used

  • Mercy Rule: If at any point in the game a team is leading by 15 points or more, the clock will run through any dead ball, except for timeouts, injuries, and equipment/court malfunctions

  • Once a team is up by 15, no full-court press will be allowed

  • 4th-5th Grade full court man to man defense is allowed. No Zone trapping, or double teaming is allowed. Help defense that results in momentary double teaming is allowed, but trapping and double teaming is not.
